User Interface Design for Apartment Finder Website
Project Type
Designing UI elements for a website
Role
UI designer
THE PRODUCT: My Home is an apartment finder that allows users to browse 100’s of available homes in the area, quickly and efficiently.
THE PROBLEM: My Home is a new company and doesn’t have an established set of style guidelines that conform to web standards.
THE GOAL: To use basic design principles like grids, color, spacing, cards, modals, typeface, etc. to create elements and components that positively influence the user experience. The resulting UI elements must also comply with web standards and be accessible.
RESPONSIBILITIES: I began by doing competitive audits as there are already so many successful apartment finders out there, researching the colors they chose, their use of icons, and website content. I created a versatile style guide that included colors, fonts, buttons, and icons. I also created cards and components that unified the website and gave it structure. The result was a collection of UI elements that passed WCAG tests for web accessibility and could be used on various platforms.
